Great year for Seniors Teams

Saanich Fusion Football Club’s senior teams had another successful season, with results ranging form exciting first-place finishes to gut-wrenching losses.  Here’s how the 2016/17 season ended:

On the women’s side of the pitch, the Premier Women reached the semifinals of the Terry Cup, and finished fifth in their division.

The Div 1 United were not so fortunate in their Cup run, but earned a third place spot in their division.

On the men’s side, Maude Hunter’s Div 1 squad finished third, as they bowed out of the Jackson Cup in the semi-final game to the eventual winners, Cowichan FC.

Harris Dodge Div 3A won their division and will be moving up to Div 2 next year. They had a great run in the George Pearkes Challenge Cup, but came up short in the final against Juan de Fuca.

The U21’s finished second in the U21 Graduate Division and won the George Smith U21 Cup, an outstanding achievement for a team that folded last season.

Old School O35 Masters A men finished second in their division, then continued on to victory as they claimed the Tony Grover Cup.

And the ups and downs are not over yet as the top senior men and women gear up for their respective provincial cup runs.  Good luck teams!
