Lost and Found Set Ablaze

On Thursday Jan 22nd, someone set fire to the collection of lost-and-found clothing left in the patio area at the Lochside clubhouse.  Thanks to the quick action of one of our coaches, Kevin Morrison, and several parents, Grant Wallace, Dan Henderson, and Scott Wedekind, the fire was quickly put out and the police notified.  We’re very grateful to them all.  The arsonist got away, but we’re hoping that the police are right in thinking this was an isolated act of mischief.
The Fusion board members, in conjunction with the Cordova Bay Fastball Club and Saanich Parks (which owns the Lochside facility), are discussing ways of improving lighting and security at Lochside.  This incident reminds us that vandalism–or worse–is always a possibility and that members should remain vigilant, report any problems they see, and secure the facilities after use.
